Splint & Bruxism (TMD)

Sleep bruxism is characterised by several signs and symptoms. Among them abnormal tooth wear, fractured teeth, joint pain or tenderness, jaw muscle discomfort, and headaches. Our standard treatment is an occlusal splint. An occlusal splint is a removable appliance worn in the upper jaw (maxilla) or the lower jaw (mandible), with coverage of the dental surfaces. They are usually used to prevent tooth wear.

Depending on how aggressive your bruxism is, we will tailor a solution accordingly. It is most important that the splint is practical and wearable during sleep.

Call the team at Pearson Dental if you’re concerned about sleep bruxism (teeth grinding) and we can assist in finding the right solution for you.
